FAQ
What image formats are supported?
The converter supports 9 formats: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, BMP, QOI, ICO and SVG. SVG files are rasterized to PNG first, then converted. You can convert from any supported format to any other.
Can I convert multiple images at once?
Yes. Drop as many files as you like onto the upload zone. All images are converted in parallel via a Web Worker and you can download the results as a single ZIP archive.
Can I control the output quality?
Yes. For lossy formats (JPEG and WebP), a quality slider lets you choose a value from 1 to 100. Higher values = better quality + larger file size. For lossless formats (PNG, BMP, TIFF, QOI, ICO), the quality setting has no effect.
What is QOI format?
QOI (Quite OK Image) is a fast, lossless image format with a simple specification. It compresses significantly better than raw BMP and is much faster to encode/decode than PNG. Great for game assets and raw photography pipelines.
Is there a file size limit?
No server-side limit. Processing is constrained only by your device's available memory. Very large images (100 MP+) may be slow on low-RAM devices, but typical photos process in under a second.
Will converting to JPEG reduce my image quality?
Yes — JPEG is a lossy format. Converting from a lossless source (PNG, WebP lossless) to JPEG introduces some compression artefacts. Use quality 90–95 for near-lossless results. Keep PNG or WebP if you need transparency.
Are my images ever uploaded to a server?
Never. All conversion runs inside a Web Worker in your browser using a Rust/WebAssembly library compiled from the open-source image crate. No data leaves your device.
